DAY WISE SUMMARY
TOSS
ENGLAND WON THE TOSS AND OPTED TO BOWL
DAY 1
Batting first, India lost wickets in continuous time intervals. Exceptional Bowling by England ensured that they wash out India's 1st innings on Day 1 for a total of 191. England were 53/3 at Stumps.
DAY 2
England were reduced to 78/5, but an excellent batting performance on day 2 bought them to a score of 290, securing a decent 99 run lead. India were 43 with no loss at Stumps.
DAY 3
A brilliant innings of 127 from Rohit Sharma and an exceptional batting performance got India to 270/3, leading by 171.
DAY 4
From trailing in the match by 99, India were in a great position at 466/10, giving England a massive target of 367 runs. In return, England finsihed Day 4 at 77/0, having 290 to chase on the final day.
DAY 5
India's task on the final day - take 10 wickets in 90 overs - was plain but hardly straightforward. Bumrah's devastating reverse-swing, Jadeja's miserly spell and crucial breakthroughs from Umesh and Shardul removed England's victory out of the equation. India sealed a 157-run win that had seemed improbable for much of the fourth Test at The Oval.
