ENGLAND WON THE TOSS AND OPTED TO BAT
DAY 1
Batting first, England lose their first wicket in the very first over to Jasprit Bumrah. Exceptional Bowling by India ensured that they wash out England's 1st innings on Day 1 for a total of 183. India were 21/0 at Stumps.
DAY 2
A solid 97 run partnership by Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave India a decent start in the overseas conditions. Allowing bad light and rain interruptions, India finished Day 2 at 125/4.
DAY 3
A brilliant innings of 84 from KL Rahul and a quick 56 from Ravindra Jadeja assured India a 95 run lead after the first innings. India finished their 1st innings at 278. England remained 25/0 at Day 3 Stumps.
DAY 4
A magnificient 100 by captain Joe Root along with small contributions from rest of the team climbed England to a score of 303. Target for India was 209. India finished 52/1, needing a further 157 runs with 9 wickets in hand in the final day of the test match.
DAY 5
India came into the day slight favourites.
The promised grandstand finish to the Trent Bridge Test never materialised as it rained all day in Nottingham to force a draw. The series remained leveled at 0-0.
